A major rehab and extension of an inner city single family residence.

A major rehab and extension are always challenging to design and complete on a home that had already been (badly) renovated several times. The site was also difficult as access to the rear was restricted by an old brick detached studio.
The big extension across the back of the home included a new kitchen (with the existing kitchen becoming part of both adjacent rooms and the new central entry), living area and main bedroom while the old laundry became the new master suite.
Most of the home has been completely reconfigured to a design not thought possible by this reporter when shown the original layout. For example, a former bedroom is now a music room and two new bedrooms have been created from a living room and bump out.
Ornate ceilings were preserved and repaired while multiple floor levels were balanced. Two new bathrooms are talking points with stunning charcoal and white full height tiling on all walls, a freestanding oval bath in one and square basins in another on a floating cabinet. A modern kitchen has a long servery and opens through wide aluminum glass doors to a rear alfresco.
Completing the new home layout are a gymnasium, a new study and spacious laundry.
You have to see it to believe it…
